Work dress codes have relaxed a lot in the last few years, which is great right? But it has also created some confusion about what is and is not suitable to wear to work.
In this video, I’m going to give you a few guidelines to what to and what not wear to work.
Giving professional image guidelines can be a little tricky, as they can dramatically vary from industry to industry and company to company. Baring that in mind, here are some basic guidelines that will relate to most working environments.
1. Dress for your body shape. What is appropriate for you to wear will depend on your body shape. Dressing for your shape doesn’t mean you have to wear super tight clothing or big baggy clothing to cover up. It’s about knowing what looks good on you and wearing it with confidence.
2. Avoid showing too much skin. If you are busty, check that your neckline doesn’t flash cleavage; make sure your skirts don’t show too much leg. This doesn’t mean you have to cover everything up, just use some discretion with what is and is not appropriate for work.
3. Avoid wearing clothing that is overly casual, even on casual day. For example, strappy tops that reveal bra straps, sloppy jeans, or wearing leggings as trousers.
