About the video
Do you want to look fashionable and current, but not look like you just raided your daughter’s closet? In this video I am going to tell you how to look fashionably fabulous over 40.
Just because you are in your 40’s, 50’s, 60’s or 70’s doesn’t mean that you don’t want to look fashionable, right? I also know that you don’t want to look like you are trying too hard to look too young, but you also don’t want to look older than you are.
Here are some of my quick and easy tips to reaching that perfect balance and looking fashionably fabulous doing it.
Start with basics that suit your body shape. These may be a classic pair of jeans, a dress you can dress up and down, a basic jacket etc. For example, this wrap dress is in a great neutral print and works well for my body shape
Add the fashion items from trends you love. Choose the trends you love and will suit you. If you are nervous about a trend, try it out in accessories. For example, these boots and stockings are a great way of representing the rock chic look and make it work for me. The jacket is more of an investment piece, but since it’s a style I really love and wear often, it was worth the investment.
Always dress to suit your personal style. This is key because every woman is different. Some women have a funky sense of style and they can get away with wearing things that other women wouldn’t be able to carry off.
For example, you might not like the rock chic look, but you could style this dress in a more classic way. Pair it with a simple leather jacket and boots and it creates a completely different look.
Wear color that suits your complexion. This will automatically make you look younger without you having to try. When you wear too much black or colors that drain you, it can make you look older than you are.
Avoid showing too much skin. You don’t need to show off too much to look fashionable. Balance your look by showing enough, but not too much. If you show off some leg, keep the chest area covered. If you are showing a bit of cleavage, then wear a modest skirt length.
Get a modern hairstyle. Believe it or not, you don’t have to color or cut your hair short as you get older. And if you do, make it a funky style that suits your face shape. Here you can see that a funky hair style can go along way to looking fab.
Revisit your makeup routine. Makeup products and methods have changed a lot the last few years. And as your skin changes, your makeup needs to change with it. Keep it looking natural and fresh and if you don’t know how, it’s worth going for a makeup lesson to learn how.
