About the video
A jacket is a must have in every woman’s wardrobe, but which style, fit and color is best for you? In this video I give you my top tips to finding your perfect jacket for a fabulous over 40 look.
I have to admit, I have a jacket problem. I just can’t get enough and I have plenty of them in my closet. The reason being, they are just so easy to wear and can often make an outfit.
Here are some of my top tips to helping you find and style your perfect jacket.
1. What is your personal style and lifestyle? This makes a big difference when deciding on what your perfect jacket style is. If you work in a formal environment, then your perfect jacket may be a blazer, but if you wear a lot of casual wear, then a moto jacket may be just the thing for you.
2. Your jacket needs to go with most of your wardrobe. It’s great to find a statement piece jacket, but if you have nothing to wear it with, then it’s not going to be your best buy. Look at what you wear on a day-to-day basis and choose a basic colour and style that will work with almost anything.
How to get your perfect fit and length:
Your perfect fit: Women are various body shapes, but this tip works for everyone, avoid boxy shapes and go for jackets that nip in your waist. This will make you look slimmer in an instant.
Your perfect length: Many women wear their jackets too long in attempt to cover their ass. But that can actually make it look bigger. Rather wear a jacket length above or just below your widest point. If you cut across your widest point, it will just make you look wider.
If you wear a longer jacket or coat, go for lengths that end just above you knee or longer.
How to dress your jacket up or down:
One of the reasons why I love wearing jackets is that they can be dressed up or down.
You can dress down a formal jacket with a pair of jeans.
Dress up a denim jacket with a leather skirt and boots.
You can dress up a moto jacket by wearing it with a dress.
